The Church of St Margaret of Antioch, Margaretting

Directions to The 14th Century Church of St. Margaret of Antioch

Coming south along the A12 from the direction of Colchester, take the turning signposted Margaretting.

At the bottom of the slip road, take the first turning off the roundabout - the B1002 (Main Road). Pass the War Memorial situated on the corner of Wantz Road on your right. Down the hill there are a school and a garage on your right, followed shortly afterwards by The Red Lion' public house.

Approximately 400 metres further on, turn left into Church Lane. This road is marked by a signpost.

You will find the Parish Church at the bottom of the lane. Please do not take your car over the railway line but leave it in the park and walk over the line. The barriers are manned from Ingatestone and video cameras ensure a safe crossing.

If travelling from Chelmsford towards Brentwood along the dual carriageway ('Three Mile Hill'), take the 2nd exit signposted Margaretting - the B1002 - from the roundabout at the bottom, passing under the A12 by-pass and then follow the directions above.

Going north along the A12, turn off at the sign marked Mountnessing and take the first exit off the roundabout - B1002 - (Roman Road). Follow this road through the villages of Mountnessing and Ingatestone; a distance of about two miles. After you leave the village of Ingatestone and the de-restriction signs begin, you will find Church Lane approximately 800 metres on your right; marked by a small signpost. Please leave your vehicle in the car park at the bottom of the lane and cross the railway line to visit the Church, by foot. The barriers are manned from Ingatestone and video cameras ensure a safe crossing.
